Heels Connect with Patricia Kihoro - November 2023!
Sisterspeaks Global was founded upon the idea of creating events for women but with a mission of creating safe spaces for women to learn, grow and even speak on conversations that are not being spoken about. We had started well in 2019 and 2020 but the pandemic led us to pause on physical events and we then diverted our mission of growing the organisation to putting our effort on pushing women led content on our digital forums. As the world began to resume back to normalcy we began recreating our physical events and last year we had the perfect opportunity to revive our events space and thus why we founded Heels Connect. This is an intentful event entity curated to create a safe space for women to build meaningful networks while getting the opportunity to connect and meet women they admire, educators, leaders, entrepreneurs and industry experts in different fields up close and personal to share their story of evolution in order to inspire, motivate, encourage and empower. The event also ensures women to be privy of opportunities and information that can lead them to improve on different areas of their lives such as health, relationships and money.
Last year the event happened weekly as this was an opportunity for us to reconnect and re-engage our SisterSpeaks Global community with our events and as a result we created 17 amazing events that included an array of speakers such as Patricia Kihoro, Janet Mbugua, Adelle Onyango, Wangari Muchiri and many more. This year we want the events to be about quality than quantity and we've been creating thematic events and aligning with different speakers that align with the purpose of theme. We are happy to announce that we have organised to date a total of 22 events that have attracted close to 2,000 subscribers and close to 1,000 attendees. It has been phenomenal to observe the growth of our community and also having the opportunity to connect physically.
Catherine Muraga, Managing Director - Microsoft ADC
In the month of the July we had an incredible event for women in Tech this was an event in collaboration with Power Learn Project (PLP). The room was filled with tech professionals, enthusiasts, seasoned tech speakers, mentors and our valued partners as well as our esteemed attendees who graced this one of a kind gathering. We had a vision of ensuring we create a space where those in tech or aspiring to be in tech would get an opportunity to grow their skills and learn from those who have the expertise, and it was great to observe our vision being realised. We had a room full of just over 150 people, and since then we have received an outpour of feedback from different people who've shared how the event was purposeful and enriched them with so much wisdom, this is a confirmation that what we set to achieve was accomplished.
Our Keynote speakers included Catherine Muraga who shared her story which inspired the room of aspiring women in tech to see themself as the bridge in the gap in tech. Her story emphasised on the importance of growing in depth & breadth while understanding the power we hold in our own capacity. Nadia Ahmed Abdalla, Chairperson of PLP, reminded us that we are the ones the world is waiting for and it is our duty to be a vision of hope for those behind us.
